JIM MURRAY SAYS VOTE KENNEDY AND CHARTER

SKU 00835E
Pinback button supporting Jim Murray and promoting John F. Kennedy for president, 1960. Extremely rare 1 1/2" cello in excellent condition. Jim Murray was a City Commissioner in Jersey City, New Jersey, an ardent JFK supporter, and an Alternate Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1956. "CHARTER" refers to a local referendum in favor of adopting the Mayor/City Council form of government. Kennedy appeared at a campaign rally in Jersey City on September 15, 1960, and among those in attendance were Congressman Gallagher (coattail JFK pinbacks exist for him) - this was likely made at the time of the rally. Thanks to Paul Bengston and his article in the Kennedy Political Items Collectors HYANNISPORTER publication for this information.
