THE REPUBLICAN STATE VIGILANCE COMMITTEE OF WISCONSIN (Garfield)

Membership certificate to the Republican State Vigilance Committee of Wisconsin promoting James Garfield for president and Chester Arthur for vice president, 1880.  Inscriptions include Patrick Henry's famous "ETERNAL VIGILANCE..." quote, and: "Success is a Duty!  Garfield and Arthur must be Elected!  Congress must be redeemed from the control of the enemies of the Country."  8 1/2 x 11".  Two horizontal folds and one vertical fold, otherwise generally excellent condition.  Very unusual.
