Herbert Hoover anti New Deal signed letter

Terrific typed letter on Hoover's personal stationery hand-signed "Herbert Hoover" and dated August 29, 1936. The former President is thanking an admirer for her gift of a fishing rod, then goes on to say: "I regret I shall not be able to take the rod out for some weeks - as I am now compelled to give my attentions to the New Deal. And it takes more than a rod to reform that child". 7 1/4 x 10- 1/2", in excellent condition with a sharp, bold signature. A great letter with significant content which smells a bit like "sour grapes".
