Description

Terrific and historical broadside promoting the Republican Party (and Abraham Lincoln) and disparaging the Democratic Party (and candidate George McClellan). 12 x 19", in generally excellent condition. It's interesting that this broadside never mentions McClellan by name, but it does make reference to the 1864 Chicago Democratic National Convention. Lots of incendiary quotes from leading Democrats of the day. The last paragraph encourages soldiers to vote for a continuance of the Lincoln administration: "The time has come for the brave men of the Army and Navy to stand by the men who have stood by them. Let the ballot-box show that the soldiers can vote for those who voted for them, and that the (Democratic) party who refused to let soldiers in the army vote are not worthy of their ballots now."
