Description

Pinback button from the 1972 campaign disparaging Ted Kennedy. 1 1/4", excellent condition. "Skindivers" is a reference to the 1969 incident on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts when Kennedy drove his car off a bridge, killing his passenger Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy swam free, and later pleaded guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury. He received a two-month suspended sentence. An unusual pinback, and one we hadn't seen before picking these up from an old-time collection in Denver, Colorado.
