Large albumen photograph of an artist's or architect's rendition of the Lincoln Monument in Springfield, Illinois, 1871. The monument would be competed three years later, in 1874, and would serve as the final resting place of Abraham Lincoln, Mary Todd Lincoln, and three of their four sons. This is the site of the infamous attempt by two Chicago criminals to steal Lincoln's body and hold it for ransom. 14 x 17 3/4". Light discoloration on the photo and some overall toning.
