Stevenson "hole in shoe" (clutch-back)

Tie pin with clutch back promoting Adlai Stevenson for president, 1952. 1" wide - I believe these shoes are sterling silver, although not marked as such. In excellent condition with minor surface tarnish. The iconic symbol of Stevenson's 1952 campaign made famous by a press photo which revealed a hole in the sole of Adlai's right shoe. The Democrats seized upon the symbolism of their candidate's frugality and earthiness.
