Item # 10463
$28.00Pinback button disparaging Henry Wallace, circa 1940. 1" cello in excellent condition. In 1933, while serving as FDR's Secretary of Agriculture, Wallace ordered the slaughter of 6,000,000 pigs in order to maintain low pork prices. After some bad press and many letters from citizens horrified by the slaughter, Wallace answered back: "So six million little pigs were killed in September of 1933. They were turned into one hundred million pounds of pork. That pork was distributed for relief. It went to feed the hungry..." This odd pinback is generally considered an anti-FDR, anti-Wallace (who was Roosevelt's choice for vice president), distributed by pro-Willkie forces. Learn More -
