TRUMAN WAS SCREWY TO BUILD A PORCH FOR DEWEY

Pinback button promoting Thomas Dewey for president and disparaging President Harry S. Truman, 1948. 1 1/8" litho in excellent condition. The slogan refers to a porch (or balcony) that Truman added to the White House in 1947, as part of a larger renovation of the White House which continued through 1952. Dewey supporters were certain of their candidate's victory in 1948 and distributed this rather optimistic pinback.
