Description

Pinback button opposing California Proposition 14, which was on the ballot in 1964. The purpose was to overturn the Rumford Act, which prohibited discrimination in housing. The California Realtors Association supported Prop 14. It would pass by a whopping 65%, but was later declared unsonstitutional by the California Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. It's interesting to note that presidential candidate Barry Goldwater supported the Proposition, so this has always been considered a kind of anti-Goldwater pin. 2 3/16" cello in excellent condition with a STAR ENG. PTG. CO...S.F. inscription around the curl.
