$295.00Invitation to the 1977 Inauguration of President Jimmy Carter, with original envelope addressed to "The Reverand Jim Jones" at the People's Temple located at 1851 Geary Boulevard in San Francisco. Envelope is 8 3/4 x 11". There was a direct connection between Jones, vice presidential candidate Walter Mondale, and First Lady Rosalynn Carter. Jones met privately with Mondale on his campaign plane days before the 1976 election. Rosalynn Carter personally met with Jones on multiple occasions. Jim Jones would die of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana, ten months after Carter's Inauguration. Minor smudging on the envelope. Learn More -
